BBR World Finals 2022

By Krista Lucas Wynn

The last weekend of April was extremely busy for the horse industry, with events all across the country. The National Reining Breeders Classic was held in Katy, Texas, the Midwest Horse Fair was in Madison, Wis., and the National Finals of Team Roping began in Fort Worth, Texas, but barrel racers were all headed to Oklahoma City.

The 2022 Better Barrel Races World Finals began April 19 and ran through April 24. The BBR was recently acquired by the new western entity, Teton Ridge, and the 2022 World Finals saw a record number of entries, allowing for an extra full day of competition.

There was something for everyone at the Oklahoma City Fairgrounds. BBR members, who qualified by entering a minimum of eight BBR sanctioned races throughout the year, could compete in the Open World Finals with two runs to qualify the top 30 in each division back to short go Sunday.
