Have Fun With Vintage

Looking for something different? Take a day trip to Weatherford and visit the Vintage Car Museum and Event Center and dine at the Vintage Grill next door. Even if you are not a vintage car buff, you will enjoy viewing the variety of automobiles with gleaming chrome and polished paint and hearing the story behind each. Ropes remind you to look but don’t touch.
Stroll through three rooms showcasing 17 unique autos, kept in pristine condition by owner Tom Moncrief and his staff of seven. “I love cars. I have been a car collector and mechanic all my life,” he shared. “I had this idea from way back. My wife and I became engaged in 1987 on a trip to New Zealand, and while we were in Sydney, Australia, we visited a car museum and restaurant. The museum was open during the day and the café at night,” Moncrief explained.
“The Dallas-Fort Worth area never had a car museum, and I thought it was a neat idea,” Moncrief continued. He opened his own Vintage Car Museum in August of this year. About half the cars are owned by Moncrief, but other owners rent space for their vintage cars for display and all are rotated so there is always something new when you visit.
Some of the well-preserved relics are a 1940 LaSalle that was used in the movie Pearl Harbor, a ‘41 Packard used in The Godfather, a 1919 Ford Model TT with wooden wheels, a 1930 Buick with only 20,000 miles and a 1955 Studebaker President, just to name a few.

Seems lately these days Texas is becoming the envy of musicians from around the world.
With the overwhelming response to “Yellowstone,” the television series, Texas once again finds itself under the microscope of the world, much like the late 1980’s TV series know to all around the globe as “Dallas.”

With that said, the musician population in Texas is beginning to grow as many aspiring performers turn their sights on Texas instead of Nashville. Meet my newly-found friend and fellow musician Grace Partridge. This youthful 19 year old has recently made Texas her new home. She began fiddling at age four in Rigby, Idaho. Grace worked her way through the National Fiddle championships in Weiser, Idaho, becoming a five-time national champion. She’s even played on the Grand Ole Opry. Still yet, her desire to become a true Texas Fiddler has brought her to the Lone Star State. I’m pretty sure we can thank Bob Wills for that.
