Super Bull – Can It Be the Threat to an Industry?

The average rodeo fan has a pretty good idea of all the work that goes into the bucking bull business. They may not have an in-depth working knowledge of the massive financial undertaking or the long hours, but through watching the sport, they have heard a lot on the subject.

Recently while scrolling social media, a post came up that had a very heated debate on the level that is being achieved in the breeding and raising of animal athletes. On one side of the argument the point was made that through artificial insemination and hardcore research into proven genetics, the talent and athletic ability of bucking bulls have no limits. On the other side is the stance that the riding percentage at even the highest levels of bull riding continues to plummet, and as the bull power gets higher, the number of bulls being ridden will continue to drop.
