Bringing Ag Services to North Texas

By Jessica Crabtree

Nine years ago Darren and Tana Dale stepped up and took on an event so local producers in the North Texas area wouldn’t go without. Owners of Star Enterprises LLC, the couple conduct business as a family, one of the only privately owned businesses of its kind. Their area of expertise is farm and ranch shows.

Presenting the McCook Farm & Ranch Expo in McCook, Neb., and Great Bend Farm & Ranch Expo in Great Bend, Kan., the couple jumped at the opportunity to bring and organize a ranch and farm expo here in North Texas. “Tana and I drove down mid- December of 2007 when we heard the opportunity was available. We signed an agreement with the MPEC and three-and-a-half months later we had our first show,” Dale stated.

Dale admits that first year was hectic, especially with a very young family of his own; however, every year since, the expo has grown and improved.

Taking a “hands-on approach” to each of their shows, Dale and his family work hard to include local support in every show. “We work with local businesses, local media and local implement businesses to bring in the best possible vendors selling products and services necessary to bring producers what they need to obtain their goals,” Dale explained. Dale added he feels fortunate to have the support of local vendors and local producers.

Seems lately these days Texas is becoming the envy of musicians from around the world.
With the overwhelming response to “Yellowstone,” the television series, Texas once again finds itself under the microscope of the world, much like the late 1980’s TV series know to all around the globe as “Dallas.”

With that said, the musician population in Texas is beginning to grow as many aspiring performers turn their sights on Texas instead of Nashville. Meet my newly-found friend and fellow musician Grace Partridge. This youthful 19 year old has recently made Texas her new home. She began fiddling at age four in Rigby, Idaho. Grace worked her way through the National Fiddle championships in Weiser, Idaho, becoming a five-time national champion. She’s even played on the Grand Ole Opry. Still yet, her desire to become a true Texas Fiddler has brought her to the Lone Star State. I’m pretty sure we can thank Bob Wills for that.
