MCPOA to hold meeting Oct. 2

The Montague County Property Owners Association will having an informational meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 2 at the Montague County Courthouse Annex. Everyone is welcome.
You do not have to be a MCPOA member or a property owner to attend this meeting.
Guest speakers will be Tommy Henderson, rancher, Byers. In 1985, Henderson lost 140 acres to the Bureau of Land Management. He will discuss the BLMs most recent perceived land grab and how the movement of the Red River over time complicates land ownership.
Sandra Ross, district director to congressman Thornberry’s Wichita Falls office. Ross will speak about the legislative initiatives proposed by Congressman Mac Thornberry on this issue.
Everett Newland, Newland Real Estate. As the fifth generation in his family to be involved in North Texas real estate, Newland will discuss the impact of the oil and gas industry on property values.

Meanwhile Back At The Ranch

Fall is here which means winter is closing in on us and before we officially get into winter, we need to make sure our factories are either producing or will be producing in a few months.

We have been pregnancy testing our cows this fall and if they are not bred or nursing a calf, we are bidding them adios. With annual costs somewhere between $900.00 and $1,000.00 per cow, those cows not producing a live weaned calf are costing us quite a bit.
