Cowgirl Spirit

By Krista Lucas Wynn

Cowgirls were alive and well in Fort Worth, Texas, Nov. 12-14, 2021. The second annual Cowgirl Gathering drew cowgirls and fans alike from all over the country for a weekend full of celebrating the western way of life.

The American Paint Horse Association, with the help of several amazing sponsors, puts on the event. It is open to the general public, and the entire weekend is full of excitement including breakaway, barrel racing and team roping competition, as well as speakers from several different industries and a fashion show.

On Saturday, Nov. 13, there was the Cowgirl Magazine breakaway roping jackpot in Cowtown Coliseum with $21,500 added cash and awards to the highest money winning Texas-bred Paint horse.

Produced by Dirk Webb, the winners were open champion Martha Angelone, winning a total of $11,729, and challenger champion Alee Andrews, winning $6,120.
