Like any small town, the historical buildings, still erect, display messages to onlooking visitors. The Petrified Wood Station in Decatur, Texas, is no different, interestingly displaying the message through a sea of strikingly bright red flowers.
The angelic, yet stunning, crimson poppies appear with the symbolic epistle after World War I; showcasing the prominent sacrifices made by soldiers in the fight against Germany. The war turned the beautiful countryside into a field of mud where nothing could grow, but poppy flowers sprouted on the land.
