Container gardening through the winter is one of the great joys of living in the south and the new AquaPots have eliminated the last of the anxieties, watering and feeding. We all are used to watering and applying fertilizer in the summer, but it has been somewhat of a mystery, or roll of the dice, in the winter.
We’ve been taught to give water when the soil is dry to the touch but that method of determination is challenging to say the least when temperatures are in their 40s and the ever-present cold front has moved through. Many of the cool season annuals also are heavy feeders and research has shown that the controlled release granules which need heat to disperse those needed nutrients are not nearly as efficient in comparison to applying watersoluble fertilizer.
