The COVID-19 pandemic impacted youth livestock shows across the Lone Star State when it hit during the spring of 2020. The effects continue to be felt as each event organization has been tasked with making the extremely difficult decision on how to safely continue promoting agricultural education in 2021. Some have canceled, some will continue the tradition of livestock showing but cancel open events and others are forging ahead while trying to follow health and safety guidelines.
Below is the plan for each major livestock show in Texas. Each of these events is subject to change as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve in different areas of the state. Stock Show & Rodeo
Jan. 15-Feb. 6
The Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, originally slated for Jan. 15 – Feb. 6, was one of the first to announce the cancelation of its 2021 event. The statement on the event website reads, “Due to the ongoing threat of COVID-19, the executive committee of the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo has cancelled the 2021 Show.
