2020 has seen plenty of events cancelled, postponed or changed, but one annual event that has continued to remain the same for 67 years is the Cinch Roping Fiesta, held in San Angelo, Texas. The roping event draws contestants and fans from near and far, and it is always a fun time to socialize with friends who share a love of roping, good food, drinks, and the western lifestyle.
October 23-25 was a full weekend of roping at the San Angelo fairgrounds. The top 30 of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association world standings were invited to rope in Saturday’s tie-down roping competition, as well as five from a qualifying event the day before, and the cowboys did not disappoint. Last year’s world champion Haven Meged of Miles City, Mont. was a model of consistency placing in the first round and short go to walk away with the average championship. He won $6,600 for his efforts.
