Confessions of a Hunter: What Were You Thinking?

November has to be the best month of the year, with cool fall days, the landscape in its transformation to winter, the vibrant colors of the trees changing, fallen leaves blowing about. It’s the start of the holiday season, and you get to wear your favorite hoodie or sweater; where warm cups of coffee or hot chocolate make you feel warm inside. November is extra special for Texas outdoor enthusiasts in pursuit of the whitetail deer; it’s the beginning of rifle season and for many, the opening weekend is a sacred time reserved just for hunting, nothing else.

My wife and I had been dating for a couple of years when I embarked on a fishing trip mid-September with the men of the family to the Gulf Coast. It was during this trip I was confronted by my Uncle Billy on how things were going between my now wife and I.
