One late afternoon a few weeks ago I got a text message from Jeff Dean, ranch manager at Sullivan Whitetail Ranch. He and his daughter, Karyln, were out checking animals and fence and had witnessed a tragic event, one that rendered a cottontail rabbit an orphan. Jeff advised they had this baby rabbit for Clara, my daughter, if she wanted it.
In a split second, two possible outcomes ran through my head; first one was, it would survive and we would turn it loose; second and more plausible, it wouldn’t survive; both of which Clara could learn from.
I said yes and asked Karlyn to bring it over when she could. We had some friends over with their kids for some summer fun, swimming and such.
