Doug’s Peach Orchard
Doug’s Peach Orchard located just across the Red River at 27677 U.S. Highway 81 in Terral, Okla., has survived the test of time to remain a favorite among locals since its beginning in 1948.
It is not uncommon for North Texans to take a day trip just for a refreshing glass of tea and some delicious bites. If you’re local, you know those bites won’t include any peaches like the name suggests. Instead, the hometown favorite derives its name from the peach orchard that used to sit where the restaurant now does, serving up catfish and other fried foods.
If you’re not local, let us introduce you to the restaurant that makes it worth the drive – your taste buds will thank us later. Driving across the Red River, it would be easy to get caught up in the scenery and miss this local dive, which appears nothing more than a hole-in-the-wall to some- but I mean that affectionately, it’s the kind of place you know will greet you with all the southern comfort food you could want and fine hospitality at its best.

Seems lately these days Texas is becoming the envy of musicians from around the world.
With the overwhelming response to “Yellowstone,” the television series, Texas once again finds itself under the microscope of the world, much like the late 1980’s TV series know to all around the globe as “Dallas.”
With that said, the musician population in Texas is beginning to grow as many aspiring performers turn their sights on Texas instead of Nashville. Meet my newly-found friend and fellow musician Grace Partridge. This youthful 19 year old has recently made Texas her new home. She began fiddling at age four in Rigby, Idaho. Grace worked her way through the National Fiddle championships in Weiser, Idaho, becoming a five-time national champion. She’s even played on the Grand Ole Opry. Still yet, her desire to become a true Texas Fiddler has brought her to the Lone Star State. I’m pretty sure we can thank Bob Wills for that.
