What is more western than eating breakfast or lunch at your local tack store? Saying Teskey’s is just your run-of-the-mill tack store would be like comparing the original “Magnificent Seven” film with the remake. It would be like comparing Marty Robbins to Luke Bryan or comparing one of the Super Bowl winning Dallas Cowboys teams to the team we have now. Although I am a fan, which one are you paying your hard earned cash to go see? Teskey’s is nearly a Walmart-sized tack store, western wear store, gun shop and more.
Where else can you get a new pair of ostrich skin Lucchese boots, a gallon of Vetericyn, a Hooey cap, a new Smith & Wesson and then wash it down with a great lunch, all in-house?
We didn’t buy all those things, but my wife and I headed over to Teskey’s General Store & Grill for lunch. We live down the road from Teskey’s and are here on a regular basis for alfalfa cubes and the horse supplies. The General Store & Grill embodies a western store cafe.
It has dry goods lining the walls from cowboy recipe books to Teskey’s own pickles, sauces and more. They serve breakfast and lunch Tuesday through Saturday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. They have daily specials like shrimp stew and chicken fry Wednesdays.
