It may seem strange to see a giraffe walking around North Texas, but at High Point Performance Horses in Pilot Point it is an everyday sight. Not only does the successful facility have several exotic animals on the premises, it is also home to some of today’s top stallions in the performance industry.
On February 3, owners Charlie Cole and Jason Martin hosted an event opened to the public. Visitors could get up close and personal with their resident stallions like “A Streak of Fling,” “Feel The Sting,” and multiple Wrangler National Finals Rodeo barrel racing qualifier “Slick By Design.” There were also door prizes and raffles for free and discounted breedings.
“It was definitely Jason’s idea,” Cole said. “At first, we were like maybe we will get 100 people here. He did all the planning, and we had over 500 people RSVP. We were just going to do a stallion showcase, then we added the seminars, and it just gets bigger and balloons. We like to do things like an event where people can come and learn a little, see the stallions, eat. It is great all the stallions are here. That was the hardest part to get all the stallions in one place on the same day.”
